DUS Update #6 – July 5th 2017

Believe it or not the last time I sat down to write one of these was back in April now, hence why not catch up on some news around HQ this week to return the WU back to the top of the newsfeed. Since April there's been plenty of news spilled over E3 – Bungie's Destiny 2, Bioware's new IP titled "Anthem", EA and DICE's second instalment into the Battlefront series – as well as much more over the gaming web, including Mass Effect: Andromeda's troubled development period and Titanfall 2's ongoing support for multiplayer DLC.

DLC – To be, or not to be?
One of the many criticisms of Mass Effect: Andromeda lately, among the many it received from the get go, has been the lack of information from developer Bioware regarding singleplayer DLC. As hinted during the ending of Andromeda – SPOILER ALERT (YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED) – the arrival of the Quarian Ark to Andromeda had been delayed due to unknown issues surrounding its 600 year journey across dark space. After completing the main story quests in the base game, Ryder is able to talk to a communications technician who uncovered a transmission from the Ark and hinted strongly towards it being introduced into the game later in DLC.

So... where exactly are both?

When repeatedly asked through various sources, EA has stated they "have no news at this point in time" regarding DLC for Andromeda. This doesn't come unexpected following the company putting the Mass Effect franchise as a whole "on ice" and reports that Bioware has indefinitely "shelved" any sequel plans for the game. As broken down by JV2017gameplay, there is however one string – and a very thin one at that – that fans of the series can hold onto. Back in the day of Mass Effect 3, it took 8 months before the Leviathan DLC was made available to the public. His argument was essentially that Bioware could be planning to follow a similar pattern with Andromeda, however given the game's mixed performance in reviews I wouldn't be surprised if any chances of DLC soon fall completely through.

Patch v1.08 Released
No doubt the Andromeda game tile has been sitting collecting cobwebs in most people's games and apps library, but none the less patch 1.08 has been released. Jaal has also been made a romanceable option for male Ryder, although if I'm honest I'm still waiting on Lexi to be thrown into that mix. Below are the patch notes for those interested:

Single player
  • Ryder’s appearance can now be changed onboard the Tempest
  • Expanded the range of options available in the character creator
  • Jaal can now be romanced by Scott Ryder
  • Dialogue for Hainly Abrams was adjusted to change the flow of personal information she discusses with Ryder.
  • Fixed issue with Nomad upgrades Shield Crafting quest
  • Nexus level and cryo pod points are retroactively granted
  • Vendors now carry weapon mods for Level 60-71 players
  • Vendors now sell weapon augmentations for automatic fire, burst fire, and single-shot fire
  • Improved clarity of descriptions for augmentations
  • Plasma Charge system now works properly for shotguns
  • Beam Emitter augmentation now causes guns to fire a constant beam with scaling damage based on the weapon’s damage per second
  • [pc] Added experimental support for Dolby Vision™ technology

Multiplayer
  • Stealth Grid challenge now increments properly
  • Fiend no longer sprints when within 10 meters of target, and will decelerate to base speed
  • Enabled movement correction during Fiend attacks to reduce incidence of players seeing Fiends attacking in the wrong direction
  • Improved movement prediction for some enemies in tight spaces to reduce appearance of teleportation
  • Fixed issue that prevented melee attacks if the revive icon was near center screen
  • Fixed issue where ammo pick-up audio incorrectly played
  • Fixed issue where Backlash could malfunction while moving
  • Using Stealth and Recon Visor together no longer increases duration of invisibility for Turian Agent
  • Fixed issue where weight reduction modifications wouldn’t reduce weight
  • The Revive Pack Transmitter now displays the revive radius in the loadout screen
  • Equipping the Cobra RPG now interrupts reloading
  • Player turns to Adhi when getting synced to avoid teleportation issue
  • Fixed issue where enemies would occasionally enter T-pose when hit
  • Improved visual and audio cues for player ready status in Multiplayer lobbies
  • Added “Lights” option to customization options

DUS Halo Tournament
Just a quick reminder to all that there is still time to get in on the DUS Halo Tournament. On Haze's suggestion we've opened this up to people outside of DUS to participate in as well. So far it's a 2v2v2 game of HCS multi-team...

War Games DLC
The frontier continues to be pushed in Titanfall 2's latest War Games DLC. All features can be found below:


MAPS
  • War Games: Pilots on the Frontier frequently use simulator pods to train, using life-like recreations of historical battles as combat scenarios. War Games highlights the civilian shops, tall buildings for window-to-window fighting, and city streets for Titan combat from the Battle of Angel City, and the large, open tank garage facilities for hand-to-hand Pilot combat from the Battle of Airbase Sierra. The outskirts of the map feature a clean, VR style perfect for Titan duels, while Pilots are often found running along the bright, interconnected wallrunning routes.
  • Traffic [live fire only]: A weathered test site where pilot positioning is pitted against mobility across two busy thoroughfares. Dense cover makes every corner a threat, with room for snipers to hide in the back fields.

EXECUTION
  • Shadow Boxing [holo pilot]: Get 20 kills while Holo Pilot or Holo Pilot Nova is active. Does not track holo pilot kills done retroactively.

FEATURES
  • 3rd weapon slot added for Pilots.
  • All Pilots can now equip a primary, secondary, and anti-titan weapon.
  • The 2nd weapon or 3rd weapon can be either pistol or anti-titan weapon, based on your loadout.
  • Console Players:
  • Press Y or Triangle to swap to your 2nd weapon.
  • Hold Y or Triangle to swap to your 3rd weapon.
  • PC Players
  • Use 1,2,3 keybindings to change weapons.
  • New Featured Mode: Free Agents.
  • Free-for-all with a twist. Collect 3 batteries to call in a Titan. Battery locations are placed around the map. Pilots drop batteries on death.
  • Titan Brawl now added as permanent mode in mixtape matchmaking.
  • Titan Damage in now tracked in the scoreboard.
  • More Private Match Settings.
  • Round / Score Limit
  • [round] Time Limit
  • Pilot Boosts [on, off]
  • Pilot Boost / Titan Meter Multiplier [25% to 500%]
  • Pilot Boost / Titan Meter Overdrive [on, off, only]
  • Pilot Health [25% to 500%]
  • Respawn Delay [0 to 40] seconds
  • Titan Core Meter Multiplier [25% to 500%]

GAME IMPROVEMENTS
  • Evac ship will now leave immediately once all living players are onboard.
  • Additional performance optimizations on Xbox One.
  • Added an easter egg to Glitch.

CTF HUD
  • Replaced flag icons with stacked score bars.
  • A permanent flag icon is now displays the status of each flag [home, <player name> / you have the flag, secure / return].
  • Flag status no longer displays after the winner is determined.
  • Display team Titan status.
  • Running over Stalkers with your Titan will now cause damage.

MISC BUG FIXES
  • Fixed exploit on Exoplanet where players could get under the map.
  • Fixed bug where stealing a battery from a rodeo would not give player any Titan meter.
  • Fixed issue in CTF where the flag would appear to be unreturnable.
  • Fixed issue with Legion shield not appearing sometimes.
  • Fixed a couple spots on Eden where Pilots were able to hide inside geometry.
  • Fixed issue with Tone where reload would happen during her execution.
  • Fixed issue where Ronin Prime execution played wrong audio.
  • Addressed issue where Pilots couldn’t enter evac while in phase state when using Phase Shift. The trigger to enter the evac will now be activated when the player exits phase state.
  • Monarch no longer gets two Electric Smokes when using her Upgrade Core.

BOOST BALANCE
  • Reduced damage of Amped Weapons and put on 30 second timer

Elite 2.3 Update:
Huge thanks to DUS Shino for putting together this next section about new features for Elite: Dangerous in the Commanders update. This was mentioned during the last update, seeing as though it was a while back however people might have missed it:

First off a big one, SHIP NAMES!!! so when you get scanned other players will see the name of your ship and you can see theirs. If your in to cosmetics you can buy name plates to go on the hull and show off your name. Continuing with the theme of customization is the character creator this will make the a hologram representation of yourself, pretty tame stuff for a game were you fly around by yourself right? Wrong the Holo me's you create will be your representation on other CMDR's ships in the new MULTI CREW!! thats right now you can join your mates as their wing man either in a fighter covering or leading their assault, or as the gunner taking over all the turreted weapons on their ship. All of this plus the revamp of the bounty pay outs so all ships in a wing get the same pay out mean even more reasons to wing up with the squadron! and these are just the headlines additions there are dozens of small and medium size new features that will be adding a ton of new content regardless of your play style, from the new mega ships that and asteroid bases to a brand new passenger class ship, and a new camera suit with a bunch of new features for streamers or people looking to make video or screen shots in the game.

Love your work Shino, excellent to have more and more members starting to participate in these updates or add some flair in the comments. Keep it up!

Call to Members for Other Games:
Like above with Elite: Dangerous I reckon it's time we get some more games into these updates, so if anyone from the Battlefield, Gears of War and whatnot want to get some features in here I'd be more than happy to include them. Even if they're just clips for a bit of a showcase.

I was planning on making a bit of a montage for this doubles comp we're running, though might expand it to include any clips people make in Arena as well from here on in ;)

Really impressed with the quality of these updates, just wow.

That Gothic one has got to be fucking doctored or belong to someone else though... surely he was the pilot?
